A Year of Events

Valentines Day
- Date: 14th February
- Idea: Valentines Ball
On the most romantic day of the year, many couples search for the perfect evening out. This idea is simple yet effect. All you need is a venue, a DJ, romantic decorations and maybe some food.
A night of dancing and socialising would be perfect for couples but also for those single people looking for love.
Mother’s Day
- Idea: Brunch/Tea Party
Most mums have spent a sizeable amount of their lives raising children. It’s time they were treated to something special. A brunch or tea party is a classy way to change up Mother’s Day this year.
Find yourself a picturesque venue and decide if you are doing cooked foods or baked goods. Add some soft piano music and voila, you have yourself an extremely tasteful Mother’s day brunch.
Easter Sunday

Easter is a time for celebrating a religious holiday. However, it’s also a time for Children to stuff their little faces with chocolate eggs. Why not embrace the latter?
No matter if it’s outside or inside, an Easter Fun Day will ensure your event is packed to the brim with attendees. Cater for the Children with a bouncy castle, carnival games and an Easter Egg hunt whilst also providing stalls and refreshments for the adults.

Father’s Day

June is the time of year when we can start to expect half-decent weather. If the majority of dad’s want one thing, it’s to sit in a comfy chair and watch a classic film.
An outdoor film screening is the ideal way to incorporate the home habits into an event. Find the right location, hire the projection equipment, obtain your ‘non-theatrical’ film licence and you’re well on your way to having a very memorable father’s day.
July – The summer is here
- Idea: Car Boot Sale
We are halfway through the year, so what better way to clear the house and make a bit of money on the side.
Advertising is key because most members of the general public will not be venturing out of their homes to see your one stall. Send it out through social media, post in the papers or contact your local hobby groups. Let people know that you have spaces available for them to hold a stall.
It can be an extra earner for you if you charge a small amount to hold a stall or stipulate that a small percentage (maybe 5%) from every stall takings will be due to you in order to cover event costs.
Once you’ve filled the space with stalls and/or car boots, just let the public know when and where.
August – Don’t Let Summer end on a whimper
- Idea: Music/Comedy Festival
The rain is on it’s way. Some people are dusting off their winter coats. So why not end the summer with a bang?
Should the weather be on your side, get organising a music festival or even a comedy show. No matter where you live, there will be bands or budding comedians looking for an outlet to showcase their talent.

Halloween
- Date: 31st October
- Idea: Children’s Halloween Disco
Sure Halloween is huge fun, but why not make a safe space for Children to enjoy Halloween.
Simply put, you need a venue, decorations and music. Throw in some party games and maybe some “grown up” drinks for those supervising, and you’re on to a winner.
Bonfire Night
- Date: 5th November
- Idea: Community Bonfire
Simple but effective. There might be a bonfire one street over, but people will usually opt for the closest or more convenient.
Find your space/venue, and get the community involved. The more there is to do, the more people will be drawn to your event.
The local scouts might want to do a toffee apple stall. A church community might want to put on some carnival games. Use the community and your event will be flooded with attendees.

Christmas
- Date: December
- Idea: Christmas Markets/Fair
Essentially, from the 1st December (or when the radios start playing ‘Fairytale of New York’) you’re good to go.
A Christmas fair can be a great way to get in the festive spirit. Fill your space with arts & crafts, cooked foods and mulled wine.
You might even be able to convince your local businesses to get involved and bring them more custom.
New Year
- Date: 31st December
- Idea: Party
The year draws to a close. End it with the biggest celebration you can.
In my opinion, nothing is off limits. Whether you want to hire a large ballroom or just a local pub, cram it full of energetic fun.
Live bands, karaoke, performances and discos can never be a wrong choice. Make it a night to remember…unless it’s an open bar. Memories might be impaired.
