Street parties are back in fashion and on the increase. It seems as though more and more neighbourhoods are getting together socially for good times to have fun and celebrate. And so if the bunting and BBQ are coming out this spring and summer then street party insurance would be a tactful move for any street party event organiser.
If you are planning a street party whether it be a celebration of the Queens Diamond Jubilee, celebrating the 2012 Olympics or simply a good old fashioned friendly neighbourhood get together then we can provide you with the right events insurance protection should any claims for damages be brought against you should things go wrong.
Why Would I Need Street Party Insurance?
It won’t happen to me. Hopefully it won’t. But it might!
Don’t allow your street party to turn into a street disaster. Claims are brought against people for many unforeseen reasons and incidents and it is better to have protection in place than wish you had.
No doubt your street party will be attended by neighbours including friends and family who you would assume wouldn’t contemplate bringing a claim for damages against someone they know, particularly you! However in cases where serious incidents have occurred where serious injury or damage is caused as a result of the event organiser’s negligence (where you can be held accountable for that incident/accident), in today’s litigious society friendships and family ties are easily forgotten.
Many councils now stipulate that organisers take out street party insurance as a mandatory requirement prior to any street party commencing. Check with your local council/authority the level of indemnity they require the organiser to have in place to meet their criteria. This is usually £5,000,000 but please check.
Street parties are high on the agenda for many neighbourhoods over the forthcoming 12 months and covering your liabilities against the aspects of the event would prove to be a sensible decision. A street party insurance policy provides protection for the policy holder in the event of an unfortunate incident occurring which could possibly bring a claim against the event organiser.

So What Does Street Party Insurance Cover Me For?
Your insurance will protect you against any claims for damages that are brought against you up to the indemnity limit of your policy.
Your policy will automatically provide street party public liability insurance which protects you as the event organiser from any members of the public seeking to make a claim should they suffer some form of accident or injury at the event caused by the negligence of the event organiser. Indemnity limits available range from £1,000,000 through to £20,000,000 if required.
Alongside public liability cover can extend to include any event equipment providing financial protection for loss or damage to any equipment that you own or have hired in (with a maximum single article limit as per policy conditions).
Further street party insurance policy extensions are available for employers liability insurance should you enter into a contract of service with any assistants or employees. The cover will protect you against any claims brought against you from any employees, assistants or volunteers helping out at the event that could be proved to be the fault of the event organiser.
Street party cancellation insurance will provide financial protection for losses you incur should the event be unable to proceed. Please bear in mind that any cancellation insurance policy must be incepted at least 14 days prior to the event date.
