Why do you need event insurance?
In litigious society it is becoming especially important that event organizers and stall holders have adequate event insurance cover in place. Similarly, many venues require evidence of an event organizers own liability insurance certificate. This is usually prior to allowing the use of their facilities.

Event insurance cover
- Event public liability insurance covers your legal liability towards members of the public following an accident or incident. This cover provides protection from claims brought about from third parties in the event of injury to or damage to their property caused by the insured’s negligence.
- Employers liability insurance covers your legal liability towards paid employees, volunteers or assistants whom you have entered into a contract of service with following an accident.
- Equipment and assets cover provides financial protection for equipment owned or hired in for use at your event.
- Cancellation and non appearance cover provides financial protection in the occurrence of cancellation due to circumstances beyond your control. It also covers non appearance of pre-booked entertainers that are essential to the event proceeding.

Avoiding Event Insurance Claims
Being aware of potential claims can go some way to avoiding them. Take a look at the claim examples below:
Public Liability: A marquee that you have erected becomes unstable and unfortunately collapses on to attendees of your event. The injured party finds you, as the event organiser, negligent and presents a claim for third party bodily injury. Comprehensive event insurance should be in place to protect you
Employers Liability: a volunteer at your event, operating under your instruction, suffers an injury when they fall from a ladder. The volunteer believes you to be at fault as you didn’t provide adequate safety precautions. An employers liability claim follows.
Event Equipment: You’ve hired in a large lighting system to add great atmosphere to your event. This equipment is accompanied and controlled by a lighting board. At the end of the event, when everyone is packing up, you notice that the lighting controller is missing. After hours of searching you conclude that the equipment is stolen. Without adequate insurance coverage, you would be liable for all replacement costs.
Cancellation: You’ve hired a venue and the day of the event is here. Unfortunately, the venue call and advise that due to sanitation issues at the premises, you will not be able to hold the event there. Cancellation insurance would step in at this point to reimburse your irrecoverable costs & expenses

Stallholder Claims
